the roof! the roof! the roof is in my yard!

Well, not exactly. Considering how bad it could have been - I was lucky to only wind up with a lot shingles in my yard. Considering the roof had "maybe a year" left in it according to the home inspector - Im surprised that it the damage wasn't worse. Wow! That sounded rather glass half full didn't it? No one is more surprised than me.
However, with Ike looming in the near future I wasnt certain on what exactly to do at this point. No time for a new roof - not with all people that actually lost roofs in the area. Not ready for one either. I still want to get the house leveled before having a new roof for obvious reasons. So what to do? What to do?
Who knew that reconnecting with a college friend through Facebook would hold the answer? Seriously, my luck doesn't normally go in the direction of "good" very often. My friend Ginny and her husband lost shingles during hurricane Rita in Lake Charles. They ended up having to do it themselves, and learned as they went. They offered to come here and help me patch what can be patched. We may end up having to tarp some area(s) - but its better than nothing. Knowing how old the house is, and the fact that there has been leaks in the past - I would really rather not have one more (costly) thing to have to deal with. Leveling, roof and likely windows - are pretty much going to consume what budget I currently have.
So to recap:
Boo Gustav!
Hooray Ginny & Aaron!
